  • Mounting technique is for ink; ink can be protected and exhibited when it is mounted. Drawing is a way of recreation of an image, Mounting is a tangible form of medium serves as a vehicle of the image. Engaging in the mounting craftsmanship, artist views mounting technique as a practice and substantial form of related concept of drawing .She reviews the interdependent relationship between traditional mounting and ink representation, including creation concepts with art of mounting. Her recent works depict scenes beyond windows and transformation among seasons, presenting the spectators the whisper of confetti-like nature.

Artist Introduction

Zaffer CHAN Sui-ying obtained Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Fine Arts, her major research interests are contemporary relationship between ink arts and mounting. Chan captures the abnormalities or transformation of seasons, marked with her delicate emotions and surrealistic arrangements of objects, to present to the viewer the ambiguity of relationships. Using Chan’s vivid imagination, the portrayal of sentimental and spiritual scenery is created to evoke the interrelation of man and nature. Chan has received several awards, including the Wucius Wong Modern Ink Painting Award Hong Kong, Chinese Meticulous Painting Association Creative Award and the Madam Jan Yun-bor Memorial Awards for Chinese Painting and Calligraphy.
