We have all experienced love. Love is about living, it is sweet, it is painful and it is confusing. We indulge in the sweet windfalls of love, the indescribable and delicate feelings we hold tight to ourselves cautiously. The rawest emotion of humans is love – yet it is constrained by expectations from the others, even by those we care the most.
We are torn by conflicting beliefs between oneself and those around us, and yet, we make conscious efforts to divert from our hearts aspirations as to please others.
Love is politics – pure intimacy has to somehow live up to the social standard set by society, and face moral judgements. Relationships are inevitable, moreover indispensible. Here, we do not talk about the love of the great and honourable but the trivial yet overwhelming desire buried deep down in our hearts.
Working primarily on Chinese ink paintings, I search for the essence of painting as a creative process by the deconstruction and rebuilding of images from various systems while continuously learning from traditional Chinese art.
My creation’s topic focuses mainly on the dark side and haunting memories of one’s mind. Conflicts between one’s inside world (mind) and outside world (action) rendered while he or she attempted to hide the true thoughts towards one another. Fear, guilt, loneliness, inharmonious …… Complexity of emotions would also be the prerequisite of my creation.
I have developed a presentation technique with strong sense of staging style, which is seal and secret. The medias of my works mainly are installation, video and digital imaging.
