In Hong Kong, most of the children born in generation Y that would grow with domestic helpers. In the social development of Hong Kong in the past decades, a large number of domestic helpers have participated. However, although the group of domestic helpers is huge, their social status is relatively low. Their rights and feelings are often not taken seriously.
Artists try to explore their work in Hong Kong, how to store their own objects and emotions in a limited living and private space.
Joyce Ngai graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017, majoring in Chinese Language and Literature. She likes writing and artwork creation while installation and mixed media are her main creative media.
To me, Literature and Arts are the media that can express the personal feeling and share experiences. The concept of most of her artworks are from her story and depict her internal reflection on the feeling for society and the core value of the community.
