This exhibition aims at bringing personal experiences into the conduct of art-making through drawing processes. All the artists involved in the exhibition take Chinese ink and brush as their media and are trying to break the boundaries of the iconography of Chinese painting. In the selected works, we draw certain visual elements in Chinese paintings and extract them from their original contexts by ritualized acts like repetition. Brush strokes are therefore turned into personalized languages and alienated images through which we express our feelings and emotions.

Artist Introduction

Working primarily on Chinese ink paintings, I search for the essence of painting as a creative process by the deconstruction and rebuilding of images from various systems while continuously learning from traditional Chinese art.

Artist Introduction

My brush depicts the soul, where my mind reconstructs the ties between life. Through their eyes, I see God, and I see myself.
