MFA Year 1 Exhibition: Eric LAI Wai Lam, Michelle LEE Ho Wing
The story flows by the way, bringing the visitors to the exhibition of Michelle LEE(MFA Year 1)– <It Flows Until It Doesn’t>. She observes the Octagonal Library in Macau as a mnemonic container that constructs different perceptions of the reality, which provides loci for retrieving, recalling knowledge and memory of others. The objects, moving images, and memories of different spectators are dragged closer, while they continue swirling and flowing to the far end, until they doesn’t. Another MFA year 1 student, Eric LAI, features the ink works on the theme of “birds” in his exhibition <Buliao Niaozhi>. The title not only comes from the similar pronunciations of “liao” (了) and “niao” (鳥), but also implies a situation that he is dealing with and a phase that he is going through. In terms of the confusion and ambiguity in the artistic directions, subject matters and techniques, he honestly faces the situation, while at the same time just leaving it as it is and follows wherever the path of inspiration leads.
